Our School of Law programs include a variety of rigorous legal courses that meet the unique needs of our students and our community. While we are most known for our Juris Doctor degree, we also offer a Master of Legal Studies.

Juris Doctor

Juris Doctor

Aspiring lawyers are encouraged to enroll in our Juris Doctor program. This is a comprehensive 4-year evening course of study that prepares graduates to pass the California Bar Examination and practice law as licensed attorneys. Juris Doctor students also have the option of concurrent enrollment in our Master of Legal Studies program.

Master of Legal Studies

The Master of Legal Studies program provides a foundational understanding of the law to professionals outside the judicial system. Graduates are equipped with an awareness of how the law shapes professional fields such as finance, insurance, marketing, and human resources. This course of study may be taken concurrently with the Juris Doctor program.

What Our School of Law Programs Offer

At Empire College School of Law, we believe the value of a legal education extends further than a career as an attorney. Our high-quality Juris Doctor and Master of Legal Studies programs provide students with the critical thinking, self-discipline, and professional polish necessary to succeed in any endeavor they choose to pursue.

Exceptional Benefits

In addition, students in our Juris Doctor program are awarded tremendous networking advantages in the Northern California area. Empire College School of Law graduates make up approximately 25 percent of the Sonoma County Bar Association and hold judicial positions in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Lassen, Calaveras, and Merced County. The close-knit relationships our students share with these professionals significantly enhance their performance on the bar exam, as well as their opportunities for employment.

Proven Success

Empire College School of Law is proud to be regularly recognized as one of the top state-accredited law schools in Northern California. However, we prefer to measure our success by the success of our students. Since 1973, approximately 76 percent of our graduates have passed the California Bar Examination. This is one of the highest pass rates for law schools accredited by the California Committee of Bar Examiners.

Diane Aqui, Esq.

(Class of 2001)
Empire College gave me the opportunity to earn a Juris Doctorate while still working full time in my “first” career as an engineer. The professors are all practicing attorneys and judges and it is clear that they love what they do---guiding, teaching and mentoring a new group of potential lawyers, who one day will be their peers and practice alongside them in the legal community. I think one of my favorite cases since I graduated in 2001 was against a former Empire professor and I walked away with a win!

Andrew Conway, Esq.

(Class of 2014)
I decided to go to law school after interning for the Diversion program for the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office while I was in college. Empire provided me with friends who became colleagues, and Professors who became the Judges I appear in front of today. I have always wanted to work with the law and youth and I now manage a Dependency contract for Mendocino County, which has become my dream career as I get to do the exact job I wanted when I decided to go to law school. I definitely have my dream job thanks to Empire and their exceptional professors.

James V. Sansone, Esq.

(Class of 2006)
I picked Empire College because I had to juggle between family obligations and a fulltime job. Empire was the only option that allowed me to effectively manage my work and family obligations and still pursue a law degree. Thanks to Empire, I was able to pass the bar exam on my first try and begin a new, exciting, and lucrative legal career that I love.
