Accreditation

School of Law

Founded in 1973, the School of Law has been accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California since 1982 to offer a Juris Doctor program.

Approximately 76 percent of Empire School of Law graduates who have taken the California Bar Exam have passed. Empire School of Law has consistently achieved one of the highest pass rates for California accredited law schools, including being ranked second in the state on the February 2004 exam and fifth in the state on the July 2010 exam.

Study at, or graduation from, this law school may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or be admitted to practice law in jurisdictions other than California. A student who intends to seek admission to practice outside of California should contact the admitting authority in that jurisdiction for information regarding its education and admissions requirements.

Detailed California Bar Examination pass results for Empire graduates on the ten most recent Exam administrations are available at the State Bar of California’s Bar Examination “Statistics” page.

Empire College School of Law’s degree-granting authority in connection with its students qualifying to take the California Bar Examination and obtain admission to the practice of law in California is based on accreditation by the Committee of Bar Examiners of The State Bar of California.

On July 22, 2016, Governor Brown signed into law, Senate Bill no. 1281. The new law amendment section 6061.7 of the California Business and Professions Code requires all law schools operating in California that are not approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) to disclose specific information regarding their programs of legal education. The required disclosure information can be accessed via the attached report:
Business & Professions Code Section 6061.7(a) Information Report for All Locations.

Empire College School of Law’s Master of Legal Studies program is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.

Empire College School of Law takes pride in the high standards we must achieve to maintain accreditation and offer students a high-quality education.
